Ice Breaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum

The United States Coast Guard ICEBREAKER MACKINAW WAGB-83, known as the “Queen of the Great Lakes”, was built as part of the war effort during World War II to meet the heavy demands of war materials and transportation during the winter months. Decommissioned in 2006, she now resides at her namesake home of Mackinaw City, Michigan, and is open for public tours and group events. Visit the Mess Deck, Captains Quarters, Bridge, Engine Room and more.Hear the story of the Mackinaw’s 62-year career breaking ice on the Great Lakes and serving as a goodwill ambassador throughout the region. Open to the public, the Ship Store has a array of nautical, military, and dedicated "Mackinaw" items to choose from. Visit us for a tour or just stop in to shop in the store. The Ship Store is open during regular tour hours.
The mission of the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is straightforward: “Preserving the legacy of Mackinaw WAGB 83 and her crew.”
