Gaslight Media launches new generation of advanced Web site for mobile users.

The development team at Gaslight Media launched the first of a new generation of advanced Web sites for mobile users this week. The "uptravel.mobi" site, built for the Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Association, is a true mobile travel directory for the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan including businesses, events, coupons, information and weather. Advanced feature include geo-location, driving directions, and favorite page features.
Unlike many mobile Web sites that simply translate content from a standard desktop site, Gaslight Media's mobile sites deliver content specifically designed for mobile browsing utilizing an advanced mobile device detection database. Content for these mobile sites comes from the same administration interface used to provide content for the customer's main Web site, minimizing maintenance and management time. Simple additions to these administration areas now makes it easy to manage information for both sides, or specific only to desktop or mobile users.
"Like many people now, I frequently use my mobile phone to find both useful and interesting information, wherever I happen to be." says Chuck Scott, President and lead developer for mobile applications at Gaslight Media.
